Flotation Therapy is...
A Relaxation Experience Like No Other
Why Float?
Flotation is a unique therapeutic experience that enhances your mental and physiological health. Without the need to fight gravity or take in external information, you’ll likely experience the most complete relaxation you’ve ever felt.
Our float tank contains a precise solution of water and Epsom salts heated to your skin temperature. The buoyancy of the water allows you to float effortlessly on its surface.
Flotation Therapy Has Amazing Benefits

Reduce Stress and
Promote Relaxation
The float tank environment removes outside stimulus and gives your nervous system a chance to reset.
Floating minimizes production of the stress hormone, cortisol. It also activates the parasympathetic nervous system, resulting in
-
decreased muscle tension
-
decreased blood pressure
-
decreased stress hormones
-
increased endorphins.

Improve Sleep
The relaxation you achieve when floating appears to mimic various stages of sleep. This functions to restore sleep deprivation and to assist your brain in the same way as a restful sleep with both REM and non-REM stage sleep.
An hour of deep relaxation in the float tank is the equivalent of 4 hours of sleep.
Manage Pain
The zero gravity environment frees your body from the pressure of gravity and helps put your body into healthier positions.
Floating has been proven to help with:
-
Arthritis
-
Back pain
-
Neck pain
-
Tendinitis
-
Bursitis
-
Inflammation
-
Psychosomatic pain

Boost Creativity, Sharpen Focus and Improve Memory
The rest your brain receives during a float can enhance creativity, focus, and visual-motor coordination.
Research has shown that during resting states the brain
-
rehearses newly learned skills
-
consolidates recently acquired knowledge for long-term storage.
-
synthesizes information from a wide range of brain areas to solve tough problems

Increase Healing and Blood Circulation
Floating allows your muscles to relax and unclench. This improves blood circulation and helps your tissues and muscles repair themselves.
This healing can provide long-lasting relief even after your float.

Lower Blood Pressure
-
Lowers levels of stress hormone
-
Lowers levels of hormones involved in the regulation of fluid and sodium salt balance
-
Increases secretion of endorphins to produce feelings of euphoria and contentment
-
Allows blood vessels to dilate
-
Allows absorption of magnesium through the skin
-
Generates relaxing theta brain waves.

Enhance Athletic Performance
-
Recover faster from workouts. The float position allows lactic acid to exit the muscles faster, reducing overall muscle stiffness and pain..
-
Floating can also boost your performance. Studies have shown improved visual acuity, tactile perception, and auditory sensitivity after a float.

Flotation Therapy FAQs
How much time do I have to shower and get ready after my float?
The float room has a private shower and bathroom. We have built in shower time for you to enjoy a full 60 or 90 minutes in the float room. We expect you to exit 10 to 15 minutes after your session has ended. It is important that you keep careful track of your time and use it wisely. We need time to clean the float room and run the filters in the spa before the next float session. We want all of our guests to have an enjoyable and relaxing experience and staying past your alloted time will impact all other guests after your session. If you are unable to exit the float room in a timely manner and we cannot reset the room in time for the next guest, you will be charged a fee.
How do I know when my float session ends?
The jets on the float pod will come on to signal the end of your float.
Is there anyone that can't float?
We will not allow you to float if you have any of the following conditions:
-
Infectious skin or respiratory disorders -
Open sores or wounds (ouch!) -
Incontinence, or voluntary/involuntary release of bodily fluids of any kind -
Epilepsy, seizures, blackouts (and not received permission to float from your doctor) -
Heart trouble -
Diabetes (unless under medical control) -
Kidney disease -
Serious mental conditions. -
Dementia or Alzheimer's -
You are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. -
Minors without parental consent. -
You have an unhealed tattoo. -
Pregnant women who have NOT consulted and received permission to float from their health care provider -
You are experiencing a menstrual period or external vaginal episode and are not using appropriate sanitary products to ensure no leakage as you would do in a pool or spa.
Can I float if I have eczema or psoriasis?
Yes. Epsom Salt is hydrating for the skin and may provide some relief for these conditions. If you are concerned you should check with your doctor before floating. This article from Epsom Salt Council, "Epsom Salt Baths for Eczema, Psoriasis and Acne", provides some information on the benefits of Epsom Salts for skin care.
Can I float if I'm pregnant?
YES, in fact we highly recommend it! Pregnant women in all trimesters can enjoy the relaxation and physical relief of floating. Many women report finding powerful relief in a tank and a wonderfully enhanced connection with their baby. Please check with your healthcare provider first for any conditions that may be specific to you.
Are there age requirements to float?
Anyone under 18 will need consent from a parent or guardian. We require that the parent has floated with us first, has signed the waiver and is present for the duration of the first float (in the lobby.) For children under 12, a parent or guardian should call ahead and talk to one of our staff members to determine if floating is appropriate for your child. There is no maximum age, as long as one is capable of physically stepping in and out of the float room. It is similar to getting in and out of a bathtub at home. Guests who need additional assistance entering and exiting the float rooms may bring a family member to help as we cannot lift people in and out of the float equipment.
Should I work out before or after I float?
We find it is better to get your hard workout in before your float. Floating reduces muscle tension, neutralizes the spine and helps the body recover more quickly.
What if my hair is colored?
You must wait at least 14 days from the date of any type of hair color or treatment and 30 days for vibrant hair colors such as blue, purple, red, green, etc.
Do I have to get my hair wet?
Yes, it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep your hair dry during a float session, even if you wear a swim cap (many people have tried!). If your hair comes in contact with the water (as it inevitably will.) You will have to rinse the salt out of it post float as you do not want crusty hair and salt on your clothing and personal items.
Will my skin wrinkle because I am in the water so long?
No. Epsom salt is very nourishing for skin. Your skin absorbs magnesium from the epsom salt and will leave it feeling silky smooth.
Do you clean and sanitize the pod between floats?
Yes! We strictly follow the Float Tank Association’s North American Float Tank Standards. Please click here to read a full description of our sanitation and filtration method. Between each and every float session, the entire volume of Epsom salt solution is filtered and disinfected. The float solution is filtered a minimum of 3 times between each float cycling 99.9% of the water through our filtration system. The solution passes through a micron filter, UV light chamber and an Ozonator. We also use hydrogen peroxide and test the water daily to ensure a sanitary environment. The benefits of this type of disinfection system is that it leaves behind no harsh chemicals.
What if I am claustrophobic?
It is rarely a problem. The tank is actually much bigger on the inside than you might think, and you can sit up and move around easily. Some people find it helpful to leave the lid cracked or wide open with a light on. The key to remember is you’re in total control of your experience.
What if I want to get out?
You are in total control of your entire experience. If you want to hop out, the choice is yours. If you need help there is a button in the tank to call the front desk. However, most people find that 60 minutes passes quite quickly.
Will I drown if I fall asleep?
No. Many people safely fall asleep in the tank as a result of being so relaxed. If you were to roll over the salinity of the water would irritate your eyes and nose and you would wake up immediately.
What if I can't swim?
Many people safely fall asleep in the tank as a result of being so relaxed. If you were to roll over the salinity of the water would irritate your eyes and nose and you would wake up immediately.
How often should I float?
You can float as often as you like. The recommended frequency of your floats depends upon the reason you are floating. It is recommended to float three to five times to initially understand the process of flotation and begin to reap its long-term advantages. The benefits are cumulative, which explains why flotation devotees incorporate this therapy into their everyday lives.
What do I need to bring for a float session?
What can I expect during a float?
Every float is different and each person's experience is different. It helps to go into a float experience with an open mind, ready to loosen the grip on sense of control and expectation. For the first few minutes, you may experience some slight discomfort and tightening in areas of the body that you hold your stress. Just notice what you are feeling and let it go. If you get anxious, just focus on your breathing and let your mind and body learn to let go and relax.
What if I had a spray tan?
Spray tans that are still washing off and henna tattoos will come of in the water chemsitry so you need to wait to float.
